Most Asked questions (in no particular order)
2) What’s the weather like throughout the year?
Hendersonville experiences all four seasons, though most are moderate. In winter, we typically see one good snowfall of about a foot, but it melts quickly. Just like anywhere, some years are more harsh or more gentle than others. In the spring and late summer, we see a good bit of rainfall, as the region is considered a temperate rainforest. We get an average of 52 inches of rain each year, with much more some years (looking at you, 2018, with your record-breaking 90+ inches). Fall is spectacular with its vibrant foliage, which typically peaks in late October.
The City of Hendersonville has instituted paid parking in many parts of Downtown. It is metered through the kiosks along the road or using the Park Mobile app, and there are time limits. Cost and time limits depend on which “zone” you are parked in. Parking at the Welcome Center or on the roads directly surrounding the Welcome Center is free for downtown visitors, with some limitations (typically, for road closures for special events). Please follow all signs, some lots are privately owned and have parking restrictions.

7) Information on Apple Orchards & Farms
The first apple tree was planted in Hendersonville all the way back in the mid-1700s, way before Johnny Appleseed roamed the Midwest, planting trees. Apples grow so well here, that Henderson County is ranked in the top 20 apple-growing counties in the nation. We are also home to the North Carolina Apple Festival, and some 20+ orchards that open their farms to the public, while still many more grow solely for juicing or direct to grocery stores. Farmers in the area grow much more than just apples though, there are many great places to get all sorts of produce, meats and eggs.
This is largely dependent upon your own personal interests, who/how many are in your travel group and the time of year, but generally, things visitors most like to see and do include strolling Downtown Hendersonville, hiking, seeing waterfalls, enjoying a craft beverage, visiting an apple orchard, and admiring the sweeping, mountain views.

9) Craft Beverages
In 2019, Henderson County was certified as an AVA (American Viticulture Area) or a notable wine region. The number of wineries continues to grow and wines continue willing awards in national competitions, as the region’s fertile soil and favorable growing conditions continue to gain recognition.
The area is also home to hard cideries (thanks to our booming apple business), craft breweries, spirit distillers and even a meadery (a type of honey wine that dates back to ancient times).
10) What’s it like living here?
Hendersonville is a wonderful place to live because of its access to the great outdoors, scenic views, friendly people, low crime, amenities for aging populations, great schools and activities for young families. We have seen fast growth in our population in the last decade, meaning the biggest struggles in the community have been that housing and some services have had a difficult time keeping up with the increased demand.
