Appalachian Ridge Artisan Hard Cider takes a winemakers approach to hard cider. Favoring traditional French ciders, their artisan hard cider tends to be on the dry side. You will also find fresh cider, apple brandy and locally roasted coffee at Appalachian Ridge. The tasting room is housed in a rustic, restored barn from the 1920s, situated in the middle of a 29-acre apple orchard, with a large back deck that overlooks the orchard. You can often find special events going on at Appalachian ridge, including yoga, live music and orchard hikes with the owner/brewer.
Bold Rock Hard Cider is one of the top regional producers of craft cider.
Visitors to the Mills River location enjoy a variety of options and activities. Folks can head inside the two-level tasting room that features a large bar, ample seating, a company store and area for bands, or opt for the outdoor cider garden with permanent food truck and a stage for live music.
Regular events include movies on a big screen, live bands, yoga, bingo and weekly trivia.
In addition to a large selection of ciders — including seasonal and limited releases — Bold Rock serves its own lines of hard lemonade, hard tea and canned craft cocktails.
The Cider Barn at Jeter Mountain Farm serves a tasty lineup of five hard ciders produced in-house from apples grown on the 411-acre farm. Hoopers Creek Wine Market is a family run business consisting of Josh, Mollie, their toddler Theo and newborn Oliver. They take pride in their collection of natural, low intervention, small family farmed wines, carefully curating every bottle they have in stock. Hoopers Creek Wine Market isn’t just here to sell wine; it’s here to
share the unique stories behind each vineyard and the remarkable individuals who crafted these exceptional wines.
Josh’s passion for wine all started after receiving his Bachelor’s degree in quantitative geoscience at Appalachian State University, and subsequently going on his two month geology field camp trip backpacking all over Italy. While in Perugia, Assisi and Montefalco particularly, Josh fell in love with the table wine culture of Italy, and most importantly relating wine’s terroir to his expertise in geology. His passion lies in the ability to taste a time and place through a wine, which translates to a wine’s vintage and appellation/region. Mollie fell in love with wine as a means of travel, experiencing a region and culture through each bottle.
Located at the center of Appalachian Wine Country, Hoopers Creek Wine Market loves putting local wine, cider, mead and beer in context next to options from around the world. Glasses are always available to be enjoyed on premise along with ‘apertivo’ bites.
