Description
Western North Carolina has a rich history of living off the land. Join the Swannanoa Valley Museum and Historic Center and Greg Carter (aka “The FunGuy”) for a morning dedicated to the ancient and modern art of mushroom cultivation on June 17 at 9am (to 1pm). This isn’t just a walk; it’s an educational deep-dive into how our local ecosystem provides for us.
See the Lifecycle: Walk the farm and witness the transition from raw logs to the fruiting of Shiitake, Lion’s Mane, and Reishi.
The Art of the Hunt: Learn the history of foraging in Western North Carolina and how Greg became one of the region’s few state-certified wild-edible providers.
Greg’s farm, Deep Woods Mushroom Farm is located at 70 Deep Woods Road, Mills River, NC.
Tickets are required and can be purchased online: https://history.swannanoavalleymuseum.org/wnc-hands-on-workshops/
